Klopp Blasts Salah Critics After PSG Incident

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed the critics of star player Mohamed Salah following the water bottle incident during the Champions League clash against French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on Tuesday night.

The German tactician spoke about the Egyptian forward ahead of the club’s Premier League clash at home to Southampton.

Mohamed Salah has been heavily criticised in some quarters after he appeared to throw a water bottle to the ground shortly after Brazilian international star Roberto Firmino scored the winning goal for the Reds in a 3-2 win in what was a Group C game against PSG in the Champions League.

Liverpool had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy goals from Daniel Sturridge and James Milner (penalty).

Belgian international right back Thomas Meunier pulled one back for the French capital club just before the halftime interval.

France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe levelled matters for the away side only for Liverpool to have last laugh through the late winner from Firmino, who had earlier been subbed on in the place of the first goalscorer Sturridge.

While speaking about Salah, Klopp questioned why his player has been heavily criticised even though he has gone three games without hitting the back of the net.

He scored 45 goals in 52 appearances in what was a phenomenal season but has scored only two goals in six appearances.

Klopp would be hoping Salah gets back to form when Liverpool host Southampton in a Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

It would be his 600th game as a manager.
