Ex-Manager Blames Chelsea Duo For Poor Morata Form

Former Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit has blamed the duo of Eden Hazard and Willian for the poor form being experienced by Spanish striker Alvaro Morata at the club.

The former Dutch international spoke about Chelsea and Alvaro Morata while he was on BeIN Sport.

According to him, Chelsea forwards Hazard and Willian prefer to cut inside and shoot rather than feed the lone striker (Morata).

Spanish international star Alvaro Morata was in the spotlight again after his anonymous performance in the Blues’ 2-2 draw at home to rivals Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid featured for 75 minutes before he was replaced by France World Cup winner Olivier Giroud.

He missed a big chance to double the Blues’ advantage in the early stages of the second half.

Chelsea had taken a first half lead through German international centre back Antonio Rudiger who produced a 21st minute bullet header off a cross from Brazilian winger Willian.

The miss from Morata came back to haunt him after the visitors turned the game around in the second half.

French striker Anthony Martial profited from some uncertain defending in the Chelsea box to equalise for Manchester United on 55 minutes before adding a second goal eighteen minutes later off an assist from Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United held on till the final minute of the extra time added at the end of 90 minutes before Chelsea substitute Ross Barkley broke Red Devils’ fans’ hearts and snatched a dramatic late equaliser for his side.
