Liverpool Must Sign Players To Challenge For Trophies, Club Legend Reveals

Liverpool have to strengthen their squad with new players to challenge for all the competitions namely the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

This is according to former Liverpool star John Aldridge who revealed that the Reds have to sign players to make sure that they challenge for honours in all the aforementioned four competitions next season.

He told the Liverpool Echo that manager Jurgen Klopp must beef up his squad with three or four players so that the Merseyside giants will challenge in all competitions just like what Premier League title rivals Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are doing this season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are still challenging for major honours in four competitions this season.

John Aldridge also went on to say that Liverpool need a striker and that the backup options in the striking position does not carry enough firepower.

He was disappointed with the club’s manner of exit to fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday night.

Wolves defeated Liverpool 2-1 at the Molineux courtesy the stunning second half strike from Portuguese international midfielder Ruben Neves.

His strike came five minutes after Liverpool striker Divock Origi had cancelled out the first half opener from Raul Jimenez.

Liverpool had earlier crashed out in the same round in this season’s Capital One Cup.

The Reds were beaten 2-1 by title rivals Chelsea.

Liverpool are now restricted to possible honours in two competitions namely the Premier League and Champions League.

Liverpool Face Premier League Threat For Nigerian-born Dutch Winger

Premier League table toppers Liverpool are facing the threat of fellow English top flight sides in their quest to sign Nigerian-born Dutch international winger Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld.
According to the report from the stables of the Daily Mail, Liverpool are in a three-way fight to sign the young Dutch player.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are all interested in him.
Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld is on the payroll of Belgian club Club Brugge.
He has been in very good form for Club Brugge in this campaign both in the Belgian top flight as well as the Champions League.
The 21-year-old was not able to prevent his team from suffering demotion in the Champions League.
Club Brugge have dropped down to the Europa League from the Champions League after they finished third in their group behind Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and German Bundesliga table toppers Borussia Dortmund.
His Club Brugge form earned him an invitation to the Dutch national team under manager Ronald Koeman.
Groeneveld made his debut for the Netherlands in November in the impressive 2-0 victory over world champions France in their UEFA Nations League clash at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam.
Netherlands will face England in the final four of the aforementioned competition this summer.

West Brom Target Loan Move For Liverpool Striker

English Championship club West Bromwich Albion want to sign young Liverpool striker Ben Woodburn according to the Daily Mirror.

It was revealed that the Midlands club want to sign the Welsh international star on loan for the rest of the season.

West Brom have been depleted in attacking after the loan recall of the in-form Harvey Barnes.

Barnes was on a season-long loan at West Brom from Premier League side Leicester City and he has been recalled by the Foxes.

It’s a surprise that Harvey Barnes has been recalled by Leicester City with the 2015/16 Premier League winners conveniently occupying the seventh spot on the league table at the moment.

West Brom are looking to replace him with Ben Woodburn who recently returned to Anfield from a disappointing loan spell at Sheffield United.

Woodburn didn’t see much action for the Blades in their run to the top six on the English Championship table.

Another loan spell would be the best solution for Ben Woodburn with his path to the Liverpool first team currently blocked by at least five players.

The famed Liverpool trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are ahead of him in the pecking order in the Liverpool attack.

Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are also ahead of him.

Klopp Makes Transfer Decision On Belgian Striker

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reached a decision on the short-term future of striker Divock Origi at the club.

Belgian international player Origi has not been able to tie down a starting spot in the Liverpool team since he returned from his loan spell with German Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg at the start of this season.

A lot of clubs want to sign him in this transfer window but the Liverpool Echo say that Klopp and the Reds have made the decision not to deplete his squad further following the recent departures of Dominic Solanke and Nathaniel Clyne.

Nigerian-born England international striker Solanke sealed a permanent transfer from Liverpool from South Coast club Bournemouth last week in a deal worth £19m.

He was joined at Bournemouth by fellow England international and former Liverpool teammate Nathaniel Clyne who has joined the Cherries on loan until the end of the season.

Bournemouth were in desperate need of a right-back following the long-term injuries to the duo of Adam Smith and club capital Simon Francis.

Divock Origi has not seen much opportunities in the first team this season and that’s mainly because of the form shown by the famed forward trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool Face Premier League Threat In Quest To Sign Germany Attacker

Premier League leaders Liverpool will need to see off competition from the Premier League in their quest to sign Germany international striker Timo Werner.

It has been revealed that the Reds’ title rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the in-form player.

The petite attacker has been in very good form for his German Bundesliga outfit this season.

Timo Werner has scored 11 goals in 17 appearances for RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga this season.

His goal contributions have propelled his German club to the top four places on the league table which will guarantee a return to the Champions League next season.

In total, he has scored 13 goals in 21 games for club and country this season.

The interest of North London giants Tottenham Hotspur was confirmed by popular German newspaper Bild.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are long-term admirers of Timo Werner with recent reports claiming that the player has turned down a move to the Bavarian giants.

Timo Werner has doubts about getting enough playing time with German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich with Robert Lewandowski still the undisputed first choice striker in the squad currently managed by Niko Kovac.

Liverpool could do with the firepower of Timo Werner with the Reds going head-to-head with English champions Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Chris Parrott jokes about Liverpool signing Nebil Ferkir next week

UEFA reporter, Chris Parrott in a recent statement with talkSport joked about the possibility of Liverpool signing Nebil Fekir from Lyon next week.

Well, the prediction is just a joke and everyone knows nothing of such will happen.

Host Danny Kelly said: “A deal that very nearly went through in the summer, are Liverpool, as is reported in some English papers, Chris, going to sign Nabil Fekir this January?

Parrott replied: “I don’t see where he would fit in. I don’t think they have room for him anymore.

They signed [Xherdan] Shaqiri, didn’t they? I think he fits that mould as they’ve got their front three.

“Daniel Sturridge plays a little bit, probably more than we thought. I’d be surprised.

“Certainly not this January, and the fact that Lyon are through to the round of 16 in the Champions League means that he’s not going to leave, and I imagine, or I feel, that Liverpool might have moved on from that transfer.

“I’ll probably get this horribly wrong and he’ll sign next week!”

Liverpool were close to signing Nabil Fekir from Lyon last summer transfer window but they were advised against it by Medics, who made it known that the midfielder has a long term injury.

Well, the Lyon star has been linked with moves to Chelsea in the ongoing January transfer window.

Bayern Join Race To Sign Chelsea Target

German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign in-demand Paris Saint Germain (PSG) midfielder Adrien Rabiot following the news that they have opened talks with the French club.

The interest of Bayern Munich was revealed by the Daily Mirror.

Rabiot, 23, has been attracting the interests of a lot of European clubs following his contract standoff with French Ligue 1 giants PSG.

He has less than six months left on his current deal with PSG and has already told the club that he won’t sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.

Adrien Rabiot has already turned down numerous contract offers to stay at PSG beyond the end of this season.

Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona were the overwhelming favourites to sign the six-cap French international but his agent/mother Veronica has failed to agree a free transfer move with senior club officials at the Nou Camp and that has opened up the possibility for Bayern to hijack the transfer.

Bayern are willing to pay a transfer fee in January to sign the Frenchman rather than secure him on a free transfer this summer.

Aside from Spanish champions Barcelona and German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, several clubs are also interested in a transfer for him.
