Liverpool Linked With Loan Move For English Defender

Premier League table toppers Liverpool have been surprisingly linked with a move for Burnley defender James Tarkowski in the bid to soften their injury crisis in defence.

According to the report from popular English media outlet The Sun, Liverpool want to sign the England international centre back on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

It was further disclosed that Burnley manager Sean Dyche is holding out for a permanent deal that could be worth £50m.

It remains to be seen whether Merseyside giants Liverpool will be ready to commit such an amount of money on a player that would be a temporary solution to the injury-depleted Liverpool defence.

Dutch international Virgil Van Dijk is the only fit senior centre back at Liverpool after he returned to training following a short spell out with illness.

Van Dijk missed the FA Cup third round clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Monday night which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Reds.

Dejan Lovren joined the duo of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez on the sidelines after limping out of the Wolves game with a hamstring injury.

Both Matip and Gomez have been out of action since last year.

Liverpool Eyeing Summer Move For Napoli Midfielder

Premier League title contenders Liverpool are reportedly plotting a summer move for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zelinski.

The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to the publication from Calciomercato, the Polish international player is back on the radar of the Merseyside club despite recent reports which revealed that Napoli are close to signing him on a new contract at the club.

Zelinski was recently part of the Polish team that crashed out of last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

Poland and Piotr Zelinski finished bottom of Group F at the tournament behind Senegal, Japan and group leaders Colombia.

Piotr Zelinski came close to joining Liverpool in 2016 only for him to sign for Napoli from fellow Italian Serie A club Udinese.

He has grown to become an important player for Napoli since his move to the club.

The 24-year-old has scored four goals in 26 league appearances to propel them into the top two spots on the Italian Serie A table.

In total, Piotr Zelinski has scored five goals in 36 games in all competitions.

The Liverpool midfield has been heavily criticised for lack of goals and the signing of Zelinski would go a long way to add cutting edge and ruthlessness to the Reds’ midfield.

Klopp Plays Down Salah Struggles To Score

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has played down suggestions that star forward Mohamed Salah is lacking confidence in front of goal.

Klopp spoke about the former Chelsea forward during his post-match thoughts with Sky Sports shortly after the Premier League away clash with Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday evening.

The German tactician defended his player before adding that the Egyptian international star could have scored two or three goals against the Toffees.

Klopp and Liverpool were held to a goalless draw in their league game at Everton with Mohamed Salah missing the best chances created by the Reds.

Mohamed Salah had a phenomenal first season for Liverpool in the last campaign following his $44m move from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma at the start of last season.

Salah scored 32 league goals last season to set a new goals record for a 38-game season but he has not been able to get to those heights this season.

The Egyptian attacker has scored 17 league goals with just nine games left.

Mohamed Salah has not scored in his last four games for Liverpool in all competitions.

That result against Everton ensured that Liverpool lose their spot at the top of the table.

Liverpool started the weekend with a one-point lead over defending champions Manchester City but the draw ensured that they end the weekend one point behind the Citizens.

Liverpool player Adam Lallana could return to former club Southampton when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Saints could welcome England international Lallana back to the club this summer.

The 30-year-old has endured a frustrating spell at Liverpool due to several injury problems.

Adam Lallana helped Southampton gain promotion to the top flight of English football in 2012 before enjoying his best season for the Saints during the 2013/14 season.

He helped Southampton to eighth spot at the end of the 2013/14 season and his form earned him a big money move to Liverpool that summer.

Liverpool paid £25m to secure his transfer from Southampton controversially after the player forced his way out of his boyhood club.

His time at Liverpool has been disturbed by injuries especially in the last three seasons.

Adam Lallana has played just 917 minutes of Premier League football since the start of last season.

He has not been able to play much football for Liverpool this season mainly due to competition for places following the acquisition of two quality midfielders at the start of this campaign.
