Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon Probable Lineups

Premier League giants Arsenal are firmly focused on qualification for the first knockout stage of the Europa League ahead of their Matchday 4 clash with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon at home.

A win for the Gunners will secure their spot in the last 16 and also maintain their perfect start to this season’s Europa League campaign.

Ahead of the game, retired Czech Republic international Petr Cech will return to the Arsenal post in place of Bernd Leno who is now the regular goalkeeper in the Premier League starting XI.

Matteo Guendouzi is also expected to return to the Arsenal squad for the game.

The Frenchman missed the exciting 1-1 draw with title rivals Liverpool at the weekend because of suspension following his red card against Championship side Blackpool in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners won the reverse fixture in Portugal 1-0 to record an 11th straight win in all competitions but the North London giants have won just once since then.

Arsenal Probable Starting XI: Petr Cech; Stephan Lichsteiner, Rob Holding, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sead Kolasinac; Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi; Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Sporting Lisbon Probable Starting XI: Renan Ribeiro; Bruno Gaspar, Sebastien Coates, Jeremy Mathieu, Marcos Acuna; Nemanja Gudelj, Radosav Petrovic; Luis Nani, Bruno Fernandes, Jovane Cabral; Bas Dost.

Why Arsenal could be quiet in the Winter transfer window in January

English football club, Arsenal made some signings in the last summer transfer window owing to the departure of the former coach, Arsene Wenger and the arrival of Unai Emery as the new coach.

The Gunners are known to not always sign new players and if they do, it would always be towards the end of the transfer windows but the last summer transfer window was quite different as they wrap up the deal on time probably to encourage the new coach.

However, there have been questions on whether Arsenal will participate in the coming winter transfer window in January.

A report has made it known that it will be quiet at Arsenal in the January transfer window.

According to Arsenal’s head of football, Raul Sanllehi, the January transfer window is meant to solve unexpected problems.

Raul Sanllehi added that “unless something special comes up, in principle, the winter window is not one that we are really interested in.”

This means the Gunners will likely not participate in the January transfer window.

The only problem they have is Danny Welbeck, who is currently on injury and they have promoted Eddie Nketiah to solve the problem.
